2 weeks left for me.... cant wait Smile
Exams were done today! Can't wait to see what my scores are tomorrow!
Exams starter today
(in our school 2 subjects per day)

Today was intermediate math and social studies (easy as pie)
Tommorow math enrichment and filipino (since i live in the philippines)
Third and final day english and science (easy!!!)

Chinese was done last week trololol
What's the simplified form of "4y - 5 + 2y - 9"? If anybody knows simplifying algebraic expressions.

FJ is so smart!
fj u learn chinese?
Fj's half chinese, I think.
Yes i have chinese blood Smile
heres how i solved it:
4y-5+2y-9
6y-14

Transpose 14 to find y

6y=14

6y=14. (it means divide deal with it!)
--- ---
6. 6
Y= 14/6. Or. 2 2/6. Or 2 1/3
Fraction and lowest term
Smile
Fj, so the simplified EXPRESSION is 6y - 14?
Oh? It is not an equation if there is no = sigm.
=sign is the most important thing in an equation.

I find tje y axis
Not the simplified equation
But what you well.. Fine xD

FJ is so smart!
The simplified expression is:
(4y+2y) + (-5-9)
6y -14
2(3y -7)
The only thing asked in exam was what is the simplified expression of "4y - 5 + 2y - 9".
So is it 6y - 14?
Meh. Yeah it is, what grade/year are you
Muy?
Serms luke youre studying really easy stuff
*facepalm*
"equation" and "expression" are 2 different things.

4y - 5 + 2y - 9 is NOT equal to 0. (Well, if it were, it would become a linear equation in 2 variables that is in the form ax+by+c=0)

So
4y - 5 + 2y - 9 is just a EXPRESSION.

Just SIMPLIFY it, so the SIMPLIFIED EXPRESSION(not EQUATION) is 6y-14.

That's 2 different questions. We are only told to simplify the expression
i smell a bragging
Its not an equation if theres no = sign
Which means that is not an equation

Basically if you made the equation ino general form,
6y-14=0

Yet:
It was not made to be an equation. so bah! You wont understand

Just take 6y-14 as the answer :p
Ramza with his math swag
orb is online... Forum is alive..
I'm the least intelligent among all of the Filipinos. -_-

I got mixed up with an equation and an expression.

Well, im on my ipod. Good enough

...SO if I say the expression 4+5, does it means that the equation is 4+5=0?

Similarly, 6y-14=0 is wrong as well.

I'll make it simple and clear to understand: ADD LIKE TERMS

My statement haven't changed:

For all your math problems, simply contact me XD I've been the best in math since grade school you know
Btw fj, did you study about angles, triangles, 4-sided figures (parallelogram, trapezium etc.)?

Well, I aced my Math exam last year Ramza.
Its equilaterals (4 sided)
