Since I've run into this question quite  a few times myself, I thought I'd make a list for reference. These are no way, well some might be, the absolute required nature, but more of a guideline. This is a work in progress and any help/tips/suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

Please take abilities in consideration when deciding nature.

This is a very helpful thread. Would love to see it completed/updated. And perhaps include Emissaries, as well? Anyway, thanks for what you've done.

Question: Just looking at the first Ancient, Albinus, I am wondering why Profound is best nature?

                HP / Att / Def / SpA / SpD / Spe
Albinus      161 / 97 / 191 / 115 / 199 / 204

Profound:   40 / -60 / 50 / -50 / 60 / -40

If Albinus's best stats are, in order, Speed, SpDefense, Defense, etc., wouldn't the best nature for this mon be one that increases those stats in that order, or as close as possible? Speed is the highest stat, and Profound decreases Speed, so...you see my confusion?

Looking at the Natures list, Bulwark and Quick seem like they would be better. They both increase Speed, and Special Defense, with Bulwark also increasing Defense. Here are those stats:

Bulwark: 0 / -40 / 30 / -40 / 30 / 20
Quick: -60 / 0 / 0 / -50 / 50 / 60

You shoud have in your mind that the types are: sweeper, tank and wall

Wall: Def and sp def are the important stats.
Tanks: Def, sp def and sp attack or attack are the important stats
Sweepers: Speed, Hp and sp attack or attack are the important stats.

I told you that you also need to look at the movepool(the moves that albinus can learn)

The nature profound takes the def and sp def that are really high. That means a wall. A sweeper takes speed, but also need 1 of the attack or sp attack stats. That means it isn't a good sweeper. Tank type thats fine also, donno the movepool for that.

So tank or wall, because players looked at the movepool and saw that albinus have more good attacks for a wall, means that albinus is better for a wall nature.

and just tell me, what should a monster with speed and spdef do in a pvp battle? fast defending? Bulwark is a fine nature for a wall also, not the best.

Fast defending... Big Grin Hilarious! But excellent point, too.

Right, I remember about the move pool - just hadn't gotten myself past the nature & stats part yet. I wanted to make sure I had a fuller understanding of why Profound was better than Bulwark or Quick. Now I do, thanks.

So, when searching for your "dream team", you want all your mons to fit into one of the categories of wall, tank, or sweeper? So far, I've only been battling within the game. I haven't battled PVP yet. I've been asked a couple times, but their monsters were wayyy better than mine and I'd like to think I at least have a little chance of winning before I agree to battle, you know?

About the movepools, you'd want a lot of status moves and moves that lower enemy stats for walls, damaging moves for sweepers, and a combination for tanks - is that right?

Walls have status moves orr like this: https://www.monstermmorpg.com/SeeUserMon...ID=1174358 look at iron ember.

Sweepers have high attacking moves and are fast. The most important move every sweeper need is a prior move: https://www.monstermmorpg.com/SeeUserMon...ID=2237615 , look at shadow crash(prior) als at the plasma shot(same as iron ember but far more damage)

Tanks are using both, i don't have a good example for that. Tanks are most used for battle walls, so the plasma shot is also good for a tank(because the high def doesn't really matter) als moves as glow, and stall moves are used for tanks.
