We welcome a new member to the Nintendo 3DS family: Nintendo 2DS arrives on 12th October 2013 in BLACK + BLUE or WHITE +RED and plays all Nintendo 3DS & Nintendo DS games in 2D.
Aside from the one screen...what's the point?

Nah wiiu games will punch through enough to keep it a float and the fact that ninty develops their own games helps keep it up there.

Exactly!! Why not just lower the price on the 3ds if they were so keen on making a cheaper cversion

I don't care about the console wars. Nintendo has always done thingss their way and it ends up benefiting more then hurting them. I'll gladly buy a wiiu just to.play LoZ
I don't consider nintendo to be part of the console wars, because they appeal to something that's just totally different from the rest of the game market.
Nintendo is not considered a part of the Xbox/Playstation war.. They dont fit in :p

Also, the prices really aren't all that different... Official Nintendo website lists 3ds XL at $200, 3ds at $170 and 2ds at $130. Is it really worth saving $40 just to buy a new looking ds which can play 3ds games (in 2d)? The whole point of 3ds was 3d gaming. Sigh.
I don't see why instead of just making 3ds games compatible with the origenal ds they decided to make a 2ds. I see no difference other than they are desperate for money.
