Heh, I read the manga. The leader got defeated by a kid (Red) and Team Rocket headquarters lost to Red, Blue, and Green.

They were so embarrassed and so angry for losing to kids that they had to disband and grow stronger.

the only time you have more then one region is silver/gold and the remakes yet in the show ash has complete freedom but doesn't take advantage of going back anywhere when he could go back and get some much needed experience
