Does the number of monster you caught affect your ranking? will it be better to catch a bunch of monsters, or pick only a few but strong ones to catch?

Pretty much. By catching all Monsters you'll be in top 20 by 1 update.

Cool thanks. On a side note, I encountered this monster and I lost. It sucks. I don't know when I'll be able to encounter it again.
